Introduction to Education (Diploma/Degree Type Programs)
Students preparing for a career in the residential building industry have opportunities to gain skills and knowledge in a wide variety of jobs by first earning a degree or certificate at many technial colleges and universities! Upon successful completion of any of these programs, students are able to enter the building industry and begin earning a great income right away.

Technical College
Graduates of Wisconsin technical colleges get the education and training that provides skills to compete in today's competitive technical job market. The Wisconsin Technical College system provides a relevant occupational training in some of the fasterst growing fields in the U.S. today. Students can choose from one- and two-year programs and be virtually assured of a job when they graduate. Apprentice-related construction programs offer a combination of on-the-job training and classrom-related instruction in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly-skilled occupation from two to five years.

Four-Year College
A degree in construction offers a blend of management, business, communications, science, math, liberal studies, architectural and construction courses to prepare you for the multitude of career options in construction.

School to Work Program
The Dane County School Consortium offers this program which builds the bridge between high school and on-the-job experience. In this Construction Skills Program, a special partnership is made between a student, an employer and the school's counselor who helps coordinate this experience for the student. High school juniors and seniors can qualify for this program. Contact them at:
